MAURITSHUIS, gebouwd in 1636 en volgende jaren voor Johan Maurits van Nassau, naar ontwerp van Jacob van Campen in samenwerking met Pieter Post.
Fors bakstenen gebouw, aan voor- en achterzijde over drie traveeën met natuursteen bekleed en bekroond door een driehoekig fronton.
Een van de beste voorbeelden van toepassing van de zgn. grote pilasterorde - inwendig een dubbele trap, betimmeringen en fraaie schoorstenen van omstreeks 1710 in de trant van Daniel Marot.

Description
MAURITSHUIS, built in 1636 and following years for Johan Maurits van Nassau, to the design of Jacob van Campen in collaboration with Pieter Post.
Substantial brick building, on front and rear facade over three bays clad in natural stone and crowned by a triangular pediment.
One of the finest examples of application of the so-called grand pilaster order - internally a double staircase, panelling and fine fireplaces from approximately 1710 in the manner of Daniel Marot.
