Complex van de First Church of Christ, Scientist. Op verschillende niveau's gesitueerd COMPLEX VAN GEBOUWEN, gegroepeerd rondom de op waaiervormige plattegrond ontworpen kerk, met toren aan de kortste zijde, te linkerzijde de kosterswoning, te rechterzijde de zondagsschool en daartussen in de bestuurskamer en de ingangspoort, gebouwd 1925-27 naar ontwerp van H.P. Berlage, met medewerking van Piet Zwart (interieur).
Alle gebouwen zijn opgetrokken in gele baksteen, met lambrizering van rode stenen, en plat afgedekt, met uitzondering van de lage kosterswoning, die een met pannen gedekte mansardekap bevat.
De muren van de kerk zijn voorzien van glazen bouwsteenstroken zowel verticaal, als -hoog- horizontaal aangebracht, ter verlichting van het inwendige der kerk.
De toren bevat een wijzerplaat aan de oostzijde en galmgaten aan alle zijden en een eenvoudige, met koper gedekte kap met afgeronde hoeken. Het interieur der kerk is voorzien van witgepleisterde wanden met tegellambrizering in blauw en zwart, met zichtbaarmaking van de betonconstructie (balken en pijlers); in de korte wand een nis met spreekgestoelte en daarbovenuit- kragend het orgel. Het orgel, in 1927 gebouwd door G. van Leeuwen, is pneumatisch en heeft een open frontopstelling, tegen de westzijde een balcon met grote overspanning. In het plafond in het midden een driehoekig gedeelte een tienhoekig bovenlicht met geometrische bepaalde onderverdeling.
Het blokvormige gebouw met de bestuurskamer telt twee bouwlagen, is op de verdieping afgeschuind bij de hoeken alwaar twee uitkragende bloembakken; beneden afwisselend horizontale en verticale ramen met roedeverdeling, boven vijf gelijkvormige ramen en in het midden van de voorgevel en twee smalle aan de zijden.
Te linkerzijde staat dit gebouw middels een tussenlid in verbinding met de op vierkante grondslag gebouwde kosterswoning, te rechterzijde met het poortgebouw, dat voorts is voorzien van een luifel en een opschrift met de naam der kerk in vergulde letters op een blauwe ondergrond. Het lager, aan water, gelegen, langgerekte zondagsschoolgebouw is onder een scherpe hoek met het poortgebouw geprojecteerd ten behoeve van een binnenplaats, en bevat aan de straatzijde een gesloten vestibulewand, aan de waterzijde grote horizontale vensters uit de bouwtijd, en voorts een boventerras over de gehele lengte, met een door doorlopende bakstenen pijlers gedragen bloem-lattenconstructie boven het zondagsschoollokaal en is aan de achterzijde middels een gemetselde buitentrap met de overige niveau's verbonden.

Description
Complex of the First Church of Christ, Scientist. COMPLEX OF BUILDINGS situated at various levels, grouped around the church designed on a fan-shaped ground plan, with tower at the shortest side, on the left side the caretaker's dwelling, on the right side the Sunday school and between them the boardroom and the entrance gate, built 1925-27 after designs by H.P. Berlage, with the collaboration of Piet Zwart (interior).
All buildings are constructed in yellow brick, with wainscoting of red stone, and flat roof, with the exception of the low caretaker's dwelling, which has a mansard roof covered with tiles.
The walls of the church are provided with glass brick strips both vertically and horizontally placed, for the lighting of the interior of the church.
The tower contains a dial on the eastern side and louvres on all sides and a simple roof covered with copper with rounded corners. The interior of the church is provided with whitewashed walls with tile wainscoting in blue and black, with visibility of the concrete construction (beams and pillars); in the short wall a niche with pulpit and above it projecting the organ. The organ, built in 1927 by G. van Leeuwen, is pneumatic and has an open front installation, against the western side a balcony with large span. In the ceiling in the middle a triangular section a ten-sided fanlight with geometrically determined subdivision.
The block-shaped building with the boardroom comprises two storeys, is bevelled on the upper floor at the corners where two projecting flower boxes; below alternating horizontal and vertical windows with glazing bars, above five similar windows and in the middle of the front facade and two narrow ones at the sides.
On the left side this building is connected by means of a link to the caretaker's dwelling built on a square base, on the right side to the gateway building, which is furthermore provided with a canopy and an inscription with the name of the church in gilded letters on a blue ground. The lower, situated at water level, elongated Sunday school building is projected at a sharp angle with the gateway building for the benefit of a courtyard, and contains on the street side a closed vestibule wall, on the water side large horizontal windows from the building period, and furthermore a roof terrace along the entire length, with a flower-lattice construction carried by continuous brick pillars above the Sunday school room and is connected at the rear by means of a brick external staircase with the other levels.
