Omschrijving
STADHUIS. Gotisch GEBOUW (1448-1450) op langwerpige plattegrond, bekleed met natuursteen. Aan de korte zijden hoge trapgevels, waartussen een zadeldak met dakkapellen. Voorgevel gerestaureerd ca.1880; achter- en zijgevels 1947-'52. Voorgevel met hangtorentjes, pinakels tegen de trappen en korfbogige nissen met traceringen om de vensters.
De vensters in achter- en zijgevels zijn gevat binnen spitsboog- en korfboognissen met driepastraceringen. Vierkant torentje op de voorgevel. Bordes met overhuiving in renaissancevormen voor de ingang (Gregorius Cool, 1603). Tegen de achtergevel natuurstenen schavot met bogen en halfzuilen in Dorische stijl (1697).

Description
TOWN HALL. Gothic BUILDING (1448-1450) on rectangular plan, clad with natural stone. At the short sides high stepped gables, between which a gabled roof with roof dormers. Front facade restored c.1880; rear and side facades 1947-'52. Front facade with hanging turrets, pinnacles against the gables and basket arch niches with traceries around the windows.
The windows in rear and side facades are set within pointed arch and basket arch niches with three-foil traceries. Square turret on the front facade. Stoop with overhanging canopy in Renaissance forms for the entrance (Gregorius Cool, 1603). Against the rear facade natural stone scaffold with arches and half-columns in Doric order (1697).
Interior: Butter Hall (formerly Meat Hall) with ribless cross vaults on columns (1517-'18); Vierschaar (now vestibule) with marble overdoors, containing allegorical representations (c.1690); council chamber (now wedding room) with marble fireplaces (c.1690) and tapestries (1642); Burgomaster's Chamber with fireplace and ceiling (second half of 17th century).
