Laatstelijk Hersteld Luthers wees- en oudeliedenhuis, een complex bestaande uit: a) de middenvleugel aan de Haarlemmerstraat (1617, voormalige Vleeshal en Schutterswachthuis) onder schilddak, met gepleisterde gevel (eerste helft negentiende eeuw), voorzien van een fronton met gesneden voorstelling en een deuromlijsting met ionische pilasters. b) een westelijke en een zuidelijke vleugel, gebouwd kort na de inrichting tot West-Indisch Huis (1623), met een versiering met blokken in de ontlastingsbogen en ten dele bewaarde kelders met kruisribgewelven. c) een vermoedelijk laat in de achttiende eeuw of misschien in het begin van de negentiende eeuw langs de oude gebouwde tweede westelijke vleugel, merkwaardigerwijze met de zeventiende-eeuwse gevelordonnantie van de oude vleugel in de nieuwe voorgevel aan de Haarlemmerstraat (rechts naast de hoofdvoorgevel). d) een in 1873 langs de oude gebouwde tweede zuidelijke vleugel met een omlijste ingangstravee aan de korte zijde. e) een in 1873 buiten tegen de oorspronkelijke binnenplaatsmuur gebouwde oostelijke vleugel, met aan de Haarlemmerstraat links van de hoofdvoorgevel als pendant van de gevel van de westelijke vleugel een dergelijke herhaling van de zeventiende-eeuwse gevelordonnantie. Description
Recently restored Lutheran orphanage and old people's home, a complex consisting of: a) the central wing on the Haarlemmerstraat (1617, former Meat Hall and Schutterswachthuis) under hipped roof, with plastered facade (first half nineteenth century), furnished with a pediment with carved representation and a door surround with Ionic pilasters. b) a western and a southern wing, built shortly after the conversion to West-Indisch Huis (1623), with a decoration of blocks in the relieving arches and partly preserved cellars with cross-rib vaults. c) presumably built in the late eighteenth century or perhaps in the early nineteenth century along the old built second western wing, remarkably with the seventeenth-century facade arrangement of the old wing in the new front facade on the Haarlemmerstraat (to the right of the main front facade). d) a second southern wing built in 1873 along the old one with a framed entrance bay on the short side. e) an eastern wing built in 1873 against the outside of the original courtyard wall, with on the Haarlemmerstraat to the left of the main front facade as a pendant to the facade of the western wing a similar repetition of the seventeenth-century facade arrangement.
