Omschrijving
De Grote of St. Lebuinuskerk. HALLENKERK uit eind XV/begin XVI, gebouwd op de funderingen en met gebruikmaking van delen van het opgaande werk van de XI romaanse basiliek. De zuidgevel is geheel met Bentheimersteen bekleed; de Raadskapel aan deze zijde werd gebouwd tussen 1494-1499. De huidige kap vervangt sedert de XXa restauratie de middeleeuwse kap. Inwendig onder het verhoogde koor een romaanse krocht, overwelfd door graatgewelven, die op drie paar gebeeldhouwde zuilen rusten. De gehele kerk overkluisd met kruis-, ster- en netgewelven; de bepleistering op de wanden en pijlers is met uitzondering van de delen, die van wandschilderingen voorzien waren, in 1927 en volgende jaren verwijderd. Inventaris: eikehouten preekstoel (1781), orgel met Hoofdwerk, Rugwerk, Bovenwerk en Vrij Pedaal, in 1839 gebouwd door J.H. Holtgrave. Zandstenen sarcofaag; enige reliefvoorstellingen en grafzerken.

Description
The Great or St. Lebuin's Church. HALL CHURCH from the late 15th/early 16th century, built on the foundations and using parts of the rising work of the 11th-century Romanesque basilica. The south facade is entirely clad with Bentheim stone; the Council Chapel on this side was built between 1494-1499. The present roof has replaced the medieval roof since the restoration in the early 20th century. Interior under the raised choir a Romanesque crypt, vaulted by ribbed vaults, which rest on three pairs of sculpted columns. The entire church vaulted with cross-, star- and net vaults; the plaster on the walls and piers has been removed except for the parts which were provided with wall paintings, in 1927 and following years. Inventory: oak pulpit (1781), organ with Great, Swell, Upper Work and Free Pedal, built in 1839 by J.H. Holtgrave. Sandstone sarcophagus; some relief representations and gravestones.
