Description

Small Castle. Originally residence of the lords of Deurne and called "het hoff van Doirne"; later in various other hands, mostly of the drosten (bailiffs) of Deurne. It now consists of a broad square tower-shaped pavilion, originally 14th century, rebuilt in the 17th century, and flanked by an 18th-century stable building and a house with gabled roof from around 1850. The pavilion displays a crenellated frieze below the eaves and is covered by a half-hipped roof laid with slates. In the front gable, the windows set in through-going recesses have segmental relieving arches below, above are courses of ashlar blocks. The 19th-century residential house has rendered facades, on the ground floor six-part sash windows with shutters, above windows with small glazing bars. The small castle is surrounded by a garden and moat. Restored.
