Omschrijving
St. Agathaklooster (Prinsenhof). Tegenover de Oude Kerk aan de Oude Delft gelegen complex van kloostergebouwen, gesticht ca. 1400 voor de Tertiarissen. Thans in gebruik als Stedelijk Museum. Ten Z.O. van het koor der kerk poortgebouw met stergewelf. Aansluitend hierbij de lange oostelijke vleugel met poortje (1658), waarboven reliëf betrekking hebbende op de saainering. Hierachter de oostelijke kloosterhof, aan de noord- en westzijde omsloten door kloostergebouwen met verdieping, hoge daken en gotische poortjes. Westelijk hiervan de tweede kloosterhof, waaraan de kapittelzaal, haaks op het westelijk kerkgedeelte, en aan de noordzijde de v.m. refter, op welks verdieping de "historische zaal", met gotische kraagstenen, twee schouwen (midden XVII) en zolderbeschildering door L. Bramer, 1668. In het verlengde van de refter de "Camer van Charitaten", waarin regentenkamer met schout (1682) en oud meubilair, toegangelijk vanuit de Schoolstraat door drie poortjes boven een waarvan Charitasrelief door Nicholas Stone (1614). Ten zuiden van de kloosterkerk (twee achttiende-eeuwse panden (Oude Delft 177)), waarvan het noordelijke tegen de kerk is aangebouwd en een poortdoorgang bezit, welke toegang geeft tot het met kastanjes beplante St. Agathaplein. Aan de oostzijde van dit plein (nrs. 2/2a) een huis (XIXA) met verdieping, zadeldak en negenruitsschuiframen. Description
St. Agathaklooster (Prinsenhof). Complex of monastery buildings situated opposite the Oude Kerk on the Oude Delft, founded c. 1400 for the Tertiaries. Now in use as a Municipal Museum. To the south-east of the choir of the church a gatehouse with star vault. Adjacent to this the long eastern wing with small gate (1658), above which a relief relating to the saainering. Behind this the eastern cloister court, enclosed on the north and west sides by monastery buildings with storeys, high roofs and Gothic small gates. To the west of this the second cloister court, to which the chapter hall, at right angles to the western part of the church, and on the north side the aforementioned refectory, on whose storey the "historic hall", with Gothic corbels, two fireplaces (mid 17th century) and ceiling painting by L. Bramer, 1668. In the extension of the refectory the "Chamber of Charities", containing a regents' room with bailiff (1682) and old furniture, accessible from the Schoolstraat through three small gates above one of which is a relief of Charity by Nicholas Stone (1614). To the south of the monastery church (two 18th-century buildings (Oude Delft 177)), of which the northern one is built against the church and has a gateway passage, which gives access to the St. Agathaplein planted with chestnut trees. On the east side of this square (nos. 2/2a) a house (19th century) with storey, gabled roof and nine-pane sash windows. The southern side of the square is taken up by a building originally 16th century (?) elongated in shape with plastered facades and a storey with high gabled roof, closed off at the Phoenixstraat by a simple pointed gable. This building numbered St. Agathaplein 3, 4, 5, 7. Windows with fifteen-pane sash windows.
