Omschrijving
Oudtijds woonhuis voor de familie de Huyter, sinds 1645 zetel van het Hoogheemraadschap van Delfland. Zeldzaam weelderig specimen van laat-gotische woonhuisarchitectuur, omstreeks 1530. Langwerpig hoofdgedeelte met zadeldak tussen gezwenkte bakstenen topgevels, bekroond door gemetselde schoorstenen. De met natuursteen beklede voorgevel, afgesloten door een opengewerkte balustrade, heeft iets rechts van de as een hoger opgetrokken trapgevel. Rijke detaillering met natuurstenen kruiskozijnen, getraceerde korfbogen, geprofileerde waterlijsten en boogfriezen. Rechts van de trapgevel een natuurstenen poortje met ezelsrug, geflankeerd door pinakels. Hierboven een rij oorspronkelijk gebeeldhouwde wapenschilden (1652). Achter dit hoofdgebouw een traptoren, baksteen en natuursteen, met achtzijdige, boven met traceringen versierde kop, gekroond door ui-vormige spits met meerman als windvaan. Inwendig belangrijke interieurs (XVII en XVIII) en laat-gotische sleutelstukken; versierd met narrenbellen. Restauraties 1888-'91 en 1931-'33.

Description
Ancient dwelling house for the family de Huyter, since 1645 seat of the Hoogheemraadschap van Delfland. Remarkably ornate specimen of late-Gothic residential architecture, circa 1530. Elongated main section with gabled roof between curved brick stepped gables, crowned by mortared chimneys. The front facade clad with natural stone, closed off by an openwork balustrade, has a stepped gable raised higher than the axis slightly to the right. Rich detailing with natural stone cross windows, tracered corbel arches, moulded drip mouldings and arch friezes. To the right of the stepped gable a natural stone portlet with a donkey back, flanked by pinnacles. Above this a row of originally sculptured coats of arms (1652). Behind this main building a staircase turret, brick and natural stone, with an eight-sided head decorated above with tracery, crowned by a bulbous spire with a merman as weathervane. Internally important interiors (17th and 18th centuries) and late-Gothic keystones; decorated with fool's bells. Restorations 1888-'91 and 1931-'33.
