Omschrijving
Stadhuis. In oorsprong 16e eeuws woonhuis aan de Markt op de hoek van de Peperstraat en de Rode Heldenstraat, aangekocht door de stad in 1554 en omstreeks 1610 in renaissancetrant verbouwd, waarna het in 1739-'40 werd gemoderniseerd en een nieuwe voorgevel met bordes, waarop een smeedijzeren hek, een gesneden deuromlijsting in Lodewijk XIV vormen en een kroonlijst met verdiepte panelen met consoles verkreeg. Op het nog 17e eeuwse dak een sierlijk houten torentje met peerbekroning. Inwendig zijn enkele gesneden sleutelstukken uit de 16e en 17e eeuw onder de moerbalken bewaard.

Description
Town Hall. Originally a 16th century dwelling house at the Market at the corner of Peperstraat and Rode Heldenstraat, purchased by the city in 1554 and rebuilt in Renaissance manner around 1610, after which it was modernised in 1739-40 and received a new front facade with steps, on which an wrought-iron railing, a carved door surround in Louis XIV forms and a cornice with recessed panels with consoles. On the still 17th century roof a graceful wooden turret with pear-shaped crown. Internally some carved keystones from the 16th and 17th century are preserved under the roof trusses.
