Omschrijving
Raadhuis. Na brand in 1534 herbouwd ter plaatse van het vorige, later met een belendend huis verenigd, 1766-'68 naar ontwerp van Philip Willem Schonck van een nieuwe gevel voorzien en inwendig vertimmerd. Door een hoofdgestel afgedekte gevel met hardstenen poort waarboven Justitiabeeld, bordes met leeuwen; beeldhouwwerk van Guillaume Carrier Zeskante, gekoepelde dakruiter. Inwendig stucversieringen, marmeren en hardstenen schoorstenen, vele schilderijen waaronder Oranjeportretten. 1924-'25 naar het achtergelegen Stadserf uitgebreid, waarbij de oude raadzaal afgebroken.

Description
Town hall. After a fire in 1534 rebuilt on the site of the previous one, later united with an adjacent house, 1766-'68 provided with a new facade according to the design of Philip Willem Schonck and internally fitted out. Facade covered by a main truss with stone gate above which an image of Justice, platform with lions; sculptural work by Guillaume Carrier. Hexagonal domed lantern. Internally stucco decorations, marble and stone fireplaces, many paintings including Orange portraits. 1924-'25 expanded towards the rear Stadserf, whereby the old council chamber was demolished.
