The Department's description

This church was built in 1933-34 and officially opened for worship on 26 March 1934. The identity of the architect is uncertain.

At some point after 1937, but prior to 1959, an extension was constructed to the immediate rear. Although positioned very close to the south façade, this seems to have been largely freestanding, linking to the main structure via short corridor to the east. Map evidence shows that this was replaced with the present extension post-1970 (but before 1985), the latter directly abutting the whole of the south side of the original building. It is likely that the entrance porch (which was originally brick-finished, and smaller) was altered at this time also, as it links into the extension.
