The Department's description

Site (on the N side of the Movilla Road on the eastern outskirts of Newtownards) of former single storey cottage, now demolished with a modern housing development on all sides.

Description from 1st Survey card " Single/storey cottage. Roof slated and rendered gable ends. Chimneys roughcast. Walls roughcast. 3 D/H windows horiz. astragals. Doorway between 2nd and 3rd window has projecting plain surround with mldg above lintel, door panelled. Adjacent outbuildings at back."

A building is shown on this site on the OS map of 1834 and on that of 1858-60. The house was demolished fairly recently (?c.1990) and a modern estate now covers the general site.

The valuation records of 1834 do not refer to the building on this site, which (if a dwelling) was undoubtedly below rateable value.
