The Department's description

Remains of former cast iron water pump on the NW side of Carrowdore Main Street. This pump has now been largely removed and only a small section of the base now remains.

The pump formerly sited in Main Street was probably manufactured in the later nineteenth century and may have replaced an earlier device.
