The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Long single storey vernacular cottage of probable pre 1834 construction, set on a slight slope on the N side of Marlfield road over 2 miles N of Portaferry, with partly slated partly corrugated iron roof. The slated section may have been a single room vernacular cottage while the corrugated roof section may have been a byre but is now incorporated into the dwelling.
Front SW elevation has a left of centre plain timber sheeted door with a two pane timber window, with top hung upper opener, to the left and two similar windows to the right.
Both gables blank.
Rear has mixture of steel windows of various sizes and designs, but, no back door.
Historical information
Smaller building shown on OS map of 1834, with probably corresponds to part of the present dwelling. The property now appears to be used as a holiday home.
