The Department's description

The Little Clandeboye ruins have been demolished.

The First Survey card records:

'Ruins of former large house. All timber work gone but walls & architectural detail still substantially remain. 2/Sty main bldg with basement & single /sty extensions to N. & S. Main bldg facing due E has 3 bays. Central bay recessed, has parapet & upturned frieze, 2 F/FL window opes, bevel surround & label mldg. continued as string course. Porch screen in front has 3 pointed arches, centre wider, with dividing Gothic pilasters (2) &n triple columnar supports to arches carried up as archivolts. Arch haunches have trefoil infill panel. F/FL level string course & crenellated parapet. Panelled pilaster buttresses finish with triangular pinnacle. Main wall behind screen has central doorway with flat painted arch head on triple columns & triple archivolt. Door opening has decor. panelled architrave. On each side of doorway is window, painted arch head & bevel surround. 6 mld. wide steps up to entrance screen. Walls generally in whinstone rubble, rendered & lined with sandstone dressings. Condition ruinous & abandoned. E. front about 115 ft.

Has same design features as Ballyalton House & possibly by same archt.

Appears on O.S. Map of 1834.
