The Department's description

Exterior description and setting

Description at July 1995: A fountain with a plain shaped fluted column. It is inscribed 'Kennedy, Kilmarnock' on internal mechanism. The spout is missing (possibly the water issued through the now missing cap). It is located on the roadside beside the end of the bridge parapet and opposite the terrace of houses.

Description at July 2006: Pump has been removed.

Historical information

Houses (but no fountain) on the 1920 OS 25 inch map (PRONI Ref OS 10/1/40/4/1). Fountain shown on the 1938 edition (/2) and on the 1951 map (/3). Further particulars in the EHS Report 'Water Pumps in Northern Ireland : A Preliminary Survey' by Fred Hammond, January 1997, Pump no 55.
