Exterior description and setting

A two-storey, 4-bay building with hipped slated roof and roughcast walls. Windows are rectangular timber sliding sash, 2 over 2, with horns, with exposed sash boxes. Modern rectangular timber panelled door. North gable is a blank wall; modern red brick chimney with one pot. Rear elevation is of basalt rubble with brick dressings to openings; windows are pvc fixed lights with top-hung vents; a modern pvc glazed red brick conservatory projects at rear.

SETTING: The building stands facing directly onto the street.

Historical information

Precise date of building not recorded; but they appear on the OS map of 1832 and may be supposed to date from the early 19th century. The windows in the front elevation were inserted after 1977.

This is a building of probably early 19th century foundation which has been rebuilt with some replacement features which have adversely affected the original character of the building.
