Exterior description and setting

A pair of two-storey semi-detached houses with rendered walls and stucco dressings, attached to another house on the east side to form part of a terrace. Main entrances face north.

Roofs of Bangor blue slates in regular courses; two chimneys, replacements in rustic brick; walls rendered with dry dash of pebbles, cement render. Surrounds to windows and doorways are in smooth cement render with stop-chamfering to edges of reveals; coved drip mouldings now mostly spalled. Doors are modern replacements, rectangular timber panelled and glazed.
Windows are rectangular timber fixed lights with top-hung vents. At the left-hand extremity is an elliptically arched coach entrance with ledged timber double doors set in rusticated surrounds. PVC gutter and downpipes.

Rear elevations have later single and two-storey rear returns; all windows to rear elevations are of similar modern type to entrance fronts, but set in plain reveals.

SETTING: The houses stand within the built-up area of the village, facing the main street but set back from it a distance behind a tarmac pavement and a broad tarmac parking area. Houses adjoined on the east side by a two-storey house of basalt rubble with a rendered west gable; houses flanked on west side by a new housing development in course of erection.

Historical information

Precise date of buildings not known. Buildings appear on the site on the OS maps of 1832 and 1857 but the style suggests a later rebuilding or remodelling.
