The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Demolished and the site now part of a field with no trace of the building remaining.
Described in the first survey in 1971 as "A single storey blackstone cottage with brick-dressed opes. The entrance in a gabled timber porch is flanked by low plain sashed windows. There are also two sheeted doors, a fully glazed triple window and an eight pane window in the main elevation. A part of the building to the north is roofless. There is an oeuil-de-boeuf at rear."
Historical information
Built by the O'Neill family of Shane's Castle as an estate cottage; precise date of building not known, but it appears on the OS map of 1829 & 32; named on the OS map of 1858. Partly derelict by the early 1970s, it was subsequently demolished.
