The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Demolished and the site remains vacant. Described in the first survey in 1971 as "A two-storey, eight bay terrace with lined rendered walls, slated roofs, and brick chimneys, two of which are rendered. All but two upper windows have full glazing bars set in wide sash boxes. There are two double fronted shops and two single, incised pilasters rise to console flanked entablatures."
Historical information
Precise date of building not known, but it appears on the OS map of 1858, a smaller building having appeared on the site on the OS map of 1829; apparently built as terrace houses originally, shop fronts were inserted in the late 19th century. Nos 34 and 36 were demolished c 1975, and nos 38 and 40 were demolished in 2000.
