The Department's description

Exterior description and setting

A cow tail closed head lever pump. It is of unusual design in having floral decorations around a hexagonal head, fish scale decoration around the column and a cap with an oak finial. Inscription on spout reads -'Wm J Scott Plumber Belfast.' The pump is located in the centre a listed courtyard (HB18/06/003A)

Possible 19th C. Marked on the OS 25 inch map (Down29/3). Earlier maps not checked. Further particulars in the EHS report 'Water Pumps in Northern Ireland : A Preliminary Survey' by Fred Hammond, January 1997, Pump no 36.
