Exterior description and setting
Former square blackstone and brick tower fronted by a one-and-a-half storey house, located at Knocknagore Td, now demolished and replaced by a modern bungalow.
The First Survey card records:
‘Pre 1833. The remains of a square blackstone and brick tower has a 1 ½ storey rendered house with carved bargeboards to roof and a harled and whitened cottage at rear. Openings in tower are square headed, pointed or circular. Poor condition.
Appears on OS map of 1833. “Black Castle (in ruins)” on 1860 OS map.
