Exterior description and setting
A former cast-iron lamp standard located at the traffic island at the junction of Castle St, Gilford. Now removed.
The First Survey card records:
‘1909. The central feature of a traffic island at the junction of Castle Hill and Hill Street, is formed by a C.I. lamp standard. above a splayed and chamfered base a slim attached columns with foliated caps and scotia – profile plinths rise to a multi – foil with foliated and decorated cap, above this a standard rises to the lamp. The lamp is modern and completely alters the form of the monument.
