Exterior description and setting
The right of a pair(with HB16/28/087A) of three storey/ two bay classical town houses on south side of Margaret Street.
Pitched natural slate roof is shared with no.6 to left; right gable is hipped. Walls to front elevation are painted lined render. There is a projecting moulded cill course (continuous to no. 4) to second floor and projecting eaves course.
At ground floor is a modern shop with a large sheeted timber fascia. There are three equally spaced windows to each upper floor. Those to first floor are 6/6 sliding sashes with no horns and granite cills. Those to second floor are 3/9 modern top-hung casements in original openings, and are diminished in height. Left gable is party wall with no.4. Right gable is rendered, unpainted and plain. Rear elevation is cement rendered and all windows have been replaced with those of modern design

Shown on 1835 OS map. Valued as a house at £4.4.0 in 1838 valuation. Described as three and a half storeys high in 1863 valuation. Undoubtedly built at same time as no.4 (HB16/28/087A).
