The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
A single storey circular-in-section belvedere prominently sited on a rocky outcrop at the foot of Slievebrack Mountain.
The belvedere is constructed in granite and shale rubble stone with a crenellated parapet (now roofless). It has an advanced rubble stone basecourse, and a dressed granite platband below parapet level, above which the wall advances slightly. There is an opening to each cardinal point. All have a granite lintel and cill – except that to W which, is a door.
Setting:
The belvedere occupies a site high on a rocky outcrop at the foot of Slievebrack Mountain, and enjoys commanding views over the surrounding countryside.
