The Department's description

Building demolished

A building is shown at this location on the 1834 OS 6” map.

The HMBB survey card states that on this site is “ A harled and whitened thatched cottage. The entrance with sheeted door and decorated semi circular timber trellised canopy is flanked to west by two unrecessed 12 pane windows and to east by a similar and a cross paned opening. Attics are lighted from west gable. One symmetrical chimney stack. Slated return in two levels.”

The original survey slide illustrates that this property was of a substantial size and on quite a comfortable scale with a high wall head height and three bays wide with a large wall to window ratio. The windows to facade are large 6/6 exposed box sliding sashes without horns. That to left bay is 4/4, smaller than the other two, and without a cill. The timber trellis canopy has fretted detailing similar in detailing to that on HB16/05/ 012.
