The Department's description

Standing immediately south of the 1950 Screening House, this structure comprises a tall square building with one-storey projection at north, all in roughly dressed granite blocks set in irregular courses over a projecting base. Flat concrete roofs with parapet walls around. Embellished with stepped quoins and flush string courses, all in sawn ashlar granite. Devoid of openings save for large metal-shuttered vehicle entrance and smaller pedestrian door, both on west wall and with ashlar granite surrounds. ‘1985’ datestone above the latter door.

Erected 1985 by DOE Water Service. Similar in design to the dosing plant at Dunmore, near Ballynahinch.

2. Datestone.

Although utilitarian, some thought has gone into matching it with the style of the adjacent buildings. The strcuture has evident group value from an architectural viewpoint and has been recorded for its historical and technical interest in reflecting the continuing attempts to improve water quality.
