The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
A single segmental arch carries the main Newcastle – Kilkeel road over the Crock Horn Steam. It is of split Silurian rubble (the stone work of the abutments being regularly coursed) with finely dressed granite quoins and voussoirs, and granite block coping to the parapets. The upstream banks are faced with concrete.
Historical information
This bridge is shown on the 1901 OS 6” map along with a short line of road on either side. It is not on the 1859 edition, indicating that it is of later 19th century date.

Evaluation
This bridge is primarily of interest on account of the nearby presence of the bridge which it superseded (HB 16/01/003). Being of later date, it provides an interesting contrast in terms of its style and standard of execution .
