The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Two small semicircular arches carry a two-lane road over a small river. It is of roughly squared limestone rubble, random laid. There is a two-centre cutwater to arch spring level on both faces. The bridge is embellished with finely dressed voussoirs, dressed string course just over the arch crown, and curved sandstone copings to the parapets. The upstream face may have been rebuilt in the recent past. The arch soffits have been gunited.
Historical information
A bridge is shown here on the 1834 OS 6" map. It is cited as Carra Old Bridge on the 1857 and 1907 editions. It is probably of earlier 19th century date.
