The Department's description

Only a partial survey was taken as the house, although of local interest, is not considered to be of sufficient special architectural or historic interest (in terms of the published listing criteria) to warrant a full survey.

'Farthings' is an early twentieth century two-storey thatched cottage ornee set in spacious grounds on the outskirts of Strabane. Possibly designed by Londonderry architect Ivan Lynch c.1950. Asymmetric in plan with a complex roof, thatched in the English style with box ridges. Half timbered in part, otherwise rough cast with diamond patterned steel windows. Three tall chimney stacks set at 45 degrees. Formal garden to front, with two entrances linked with a curved drive.
