The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
A two-storey gabled house with a two-storey rear return all finished in smooth cement render, painted, together with a range of outbuildings in basalt rubble. Symmetrical entrance front to house, five windows wide to first floor, all rectangular timber sliding sash, vertically hung, 1 over 1, with horns; three-bay ground floor consisting of central entrance with sidelights and fanlight, flanked by tripartite windows, sashed as previous, all set in segmental headed openings.
Setting: the building stands at the end of a long approach driveway on axis with front entrance gateway and iron gates, situated in open countryside near the village.
Historical information
Appears in present form on OS map of 1902, named as Greenfield. A building appears on the site on OS map of 1831 but is not named and a building of different configuration but named Greenfield appears on the OS map of 1858. Named as Manse Farm on OS map of 1965.
