Exterior description and setting
A 1½ storey, three-bay gabled house with dry dash render to walls using blackstone chippings; segmental headed windows, timber sliding sash, 1 over 1, with horns; roof slated but covered with bitumen; one chimney smooth cement rendered; turned wooden finial to gable of porch and left-hand gable of house, but missing to right-hand gable; PVC rainwater goods; low rear extension has rectangular windows, modern timber casements.
Gateway comprises a pair of large square piers of greystone rubble in courses with block dressings of brick; rough greystone copings; top portion of right-hand pier knocked off and lying on ground. Screen walls to each side, of greystone rubble; no gates.
Setting: the lodge stands inside a rear entrance gateway to Red Hall with a lawn to the front and agricultural land to the rear.
Historical information
Built as a gate lodge to Red Hall. Appears on OS map of 1902; does not appear on map of 1858; precise year of building not known but may date from late 19th century.
