The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
A single-storey gabled rectangular building with rendered walls and slated roof. Entrance faces west.
Roof of Bangor blue slates in regular courses; dark toned ridge tiles. Walls smooth rendered, painted, with corbelled red tile haunches to the gables; cast iron gutters and downpipes; one window, in east gable, rectangular timber two-light small paned fixed light, in plain reveals with two courses of red tiles as a cill, and a name panel inscribed 'Telephone Exchange' set in the apex above it; one doorway, in west gable, rectangular timber sheeted, in plain reveals.
SETTING: The building stands in a very rural location, in the garden of a single storey cottage, alongside the cottage and set back slightly from the main road. A public telephone kiosk (HB06/01/042) stands adjacent to it, on the main roadside.
Historical information
The year of construction is not recorded but it probably dates from the 1940s or 1950s. Such buildings were designed by the architects to the Public Works Department of the Northern Ireland Ministry of Finance.

This is a very modestly scaled and plainly treated building which is of some interest as a relic of the era of small local telephone exchanges.
