The Department's description

A 2 storey modern building sited on cliff edge adjacent to the ruins of Dunineny Castle.

A small rectangular 2 storey building with lean-to roof which served as a coastguard lookout. The ground floor built of masonry and rendered with Tyrolean plaster and the minimum of door and window. The first floor clad with horizontal clap boarding with a projecting balcony on the seaward side protected by steel open railing with wide observation window overlooking balcony and sea. This window is returned a short distance on each flanking wall. Windows and doors are all boarded up.

Precise date of building not known but it appears on the OS map of 1970-2. Built as a Coastguard Lookout. Stylistically it may be dated to the 1950s or 1960s. Closed in the late 1970s.
