Exterior description and setting

Storey and a half rendered three bay farmhouse over basement facing south near Ballykelly Road. Slate roof with rendered chimney on ridge at each gable. Twelve pane sliding sash window with painted stone cill to each side of simple boarded door (no fanlight). Windows to basement are casements and are boarded up. Six steps rise to front door arched over basement lightwell. To east a lean-to sits out from the gable. A window faces south at basement level, a wide twelve pane sash faces east at ground.

The lean-to is flush with the back wall which has an irregular disposition of windows. An arched Georgian window is centrally placed, lighting the staircase (12 pane with radiating head). The basement is now at ground level. A small lean-to sits out from the facade, a larger return extends from the west side.

On the west gable the return extends along its side as a lean-to, there are two small windows (blocked up) and a corrugated asbestos roof.

The building is surrounded by a circular range of tall trees (some gone) and s approached by an avenue from Ballykelly Road. A patterned brick wall with stone coping and wrought iron gate meet the road.

Evaluation

A small pre 1830 house with classical pretensions beyond its size. Of interest as an unaltered example of the type, but too far decayed at present to merit listing.
