The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
A small single storey stone-built cottage situated at the S W corner of the church grounds and constructed in sandstone to match the church. Its entrance front overlooks the church forecourt with central door and windows on either side. A further window is placed centrally in the gable overlooking the road while the rear elevation is decorated with 2 blank windows. Each opening is surrounded with flat stone architraves similar to the church. These are given undue emphasis with white paint. The cottage is empty and was not inspected internally. A hipped slated roof covers the building with a central stone chimney. A small store faced with stone is attached to the cottage and it is likewise roofed with a hipped and slated roof. The plinth of the cottage and store is in rubble whinstone..
Historical information
It is assumed that the lodge was designed by Suitor and built by Turnbull at the time of erection of the church.
