The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Single storey, long, three structural bay building facing almost due west parallel to the River Roe and forming part of the Carrick Mills complex (see HB02/08/033A). Six openings irregularly spaced along the main facade. Two window openings (without windows) to the north, then a door, then two window openings and a door. The building is presently being renovated and all roof structure has been removed.
On the south gable is a bricked up opening. An overflow mill race runs under a small stone bridge close by. On the north gable obscured by dense undergrowth is the site of the former wheel now gone and remnants of the mill race. A pond is located behind, obscured in the undergrowth.
Historical information
Building indicated on the Ordnance Survey Map of 1830. Part of a group of buildings described by the Ordnance Survey Memoirs of 1835-37 as having formed part of a bleach mill before conversion to a flax mill circa 1830. (See HB02/08/033A). It is first marked as a flax mill on the Ordnance Survey Map of 1848. The mill seems to have operated as such until the early years of this century.

Evaluation
A small former flax mill of little visual or architectural interest. Of local interest as a piece of industrial heeritage and as a historical remnant of a once very important local industry.
