The Department's description

A chambered grave in the corner of a field adjacent to Magheramore townland boundary. More accurately a court or horned cairn. Because of the overgrowth,it is difficult to comprehend the stone arrangement on the shallow mound. Several stones are upright in the manner of orthostats and may define the chamber or entrance to it. The souterrain could not be identified.

Court tombs are dated between 3800BC and 2500BC. The Carnanbane court tomb is the remains of a long 2 chambered grave. Though the present remains appear a jumble of stones, it is thought the cairn was defined by a circle of standing stones some 13 metres in diameter.SMR No. LDY 30.28
