The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Four square sandstone gate pillars spaced to take pair of gates and two side gates. Gates are non-existent. The pillars have panelled sides with plain neckband and a thin horizontal cap on top of which is a low gabled coping gabled on four sides with interlocking ridges. One pier is missing (south side).
Historical information
The piers are probably contemporary with the house and would therefore have been erected c 1850. (See HB01/25/005A). The piers front onto the footpath on the Culmore Road and at the bottom end of the garden to No. 9 Baronscourt.
