Exterior description and setting

Two storey three bay farmhouse with associated barns to one side of Letterlogher Road. Main entrance facade faces south east across the Foreglen. Harling render, slate roof, two brick chimneys, cast iron rainwater goods. Semi circular fanlight without subdivisions over panelled door with bolection mouldings. Door set in centre of composition. One 12 pane sliding sash window to each side, three 12 pane sashes aligning over. No openings in gables. No return.

To rear - building cut into hill. Date stone1860 on barn in farmyard.

Historical information

Not on 1831 map. Appears on 1906 map. Date stone of 1860 on barn. House is probably circa 1840s. Largely unaltered in its present condition.

Owned by a Mr Mc Sparran until 1988. Ms Jaimeson of Claudy aquired the property upon his death, and her enquiry on the listed status of the building resulted in a Historic Buildings Branch inspection. Building listed in 1990. Outbuildings in particular, recorded as in an advanced state of decay in 1988 - little work appears to have been done since.

Mid 19th century farmhouse with a Georgian elevation though with chimneys on the gable walls rather than on each side of the central hall. A common composition in the area though most have now been renovated losing the sash windows.It has a natural slated roof with harling to walls and cast iron rainwater goods. Suitable for listing only as a representative of the type
