The National Monuments Service's description

Three small houses are marked on the Down Survey parish map (1656-8) of Ballybrennan parish in NLI (ms 725; microfilm (P 7384B; N 6380) at Martlestown (Martinstown), but only one is marked on the barony map (3). According to the Book of Survey and Distribution (1660s) 24 acres at Martins Town were owned by Nicholas Synnott of Ballybrennan castle (WX048-001001-) in 1641 (Simington 1953, 303).
