The National Monuments Service's description
According to the Index to Bargy barony in the Civil Survey (1654-6) there was a ruined mill at Sledagh, which would probably have been owned by John Devereux who owned 240 acres there in 1640 (Simington 1953, 136, 164). A tuck mill is marked on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map c. 60m E of a small N-S stream. The ruin of a two-storey mill-house with an overshot wheel and two millstones, a mill-race and pond are at the site, but these appear to be 18th or 19th century in date, and it cannot be demonstrated the earlier mill was on the same site.
