The National Monuments Service's description
This is an early ecclesiastical site marked as a rectangular building (dims c. 10m E-W; c. 7m N-S) within a small oval embanked enclosure (ext. dims c. 35m E-W; c. 25-30m N-S) on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map where it is described as a 'Church in ruins'. It is situated on a level landscape. There are no visible remains of a structure, enclosure or burial at ground level in pasture but traces of an enclosing element (diam. c. 30-40m) can be seen on vertical aerial photographs (GSIAP, S 197/198) dating from 1973, and a larger ecclesiastical enclosure (diam. c. 80-90m) can be seen on the OSI series of aerial photographs (1995). A granite bullaun stone (dims 0.7m x 0.64m; H 0.4m) with a single basin (dims 0.37-0.39m; D 0.19m) is embedded in the ground on the N side of an E-W field bank. St Agatha's Well (WX045-002----) is c. 200m to the SW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
