The National Monuments Service's description

A windmill is depicted as a post-mill, that is a mill built around a central wooden post, on a plan of Duncannon fort (WX044-015001-) made by Capt. Pynnar in 1624 (Hore 1900-11, vol. 4, 34-5), and a contemporary drawing of the siege of the fort in 1645 made by La Loue (ibid. 144-5; Colfer 2004, 98, Fig. 10) shows the stump of a tower windmill. Its precise location is not known, but it would be close to where the Roman Catholic church of the Star of the Sea is now located.
