A fair slate house and 120 acres at Mullinderry were owned by Edmond Hore in 1641 (Simington 1953, 93), and Mullinderry was granted to Captain John Trench in 1688 (Jeffrey 1979, 120). The house was probably built in the early 17th century and it is still occupied, although much altered. It is situated in the valley of the N-S Owenduff stream, which is c. 40m to the W. This is an oblong structure of two storeys and attic (dims. c. 22.5m N-S; c. 7.5m E-W) with a return for the stairs at W and a large chimney flue projecting on the outside of the S gable. The walls are thick (T c. 1m) and some narrow lights are visible in them. The corbels for a machicolation survive at the NW angle. (Murphy c. 1994, 43-4)
