The National Monuments Service's description
Marked faintly as a rectangular structure (dims c. 20m E-W; c. 8m N-S) described in gothic lettering as the site of a church on the 1839 ed. of the OS-inch map. It is situated on a slight rise. The site of Rathumney church is within a subrectangular graveyard (dims c. 65m E-W; c. 40m N-S) defined by stone-clad earthen banks, but the W part of the graveyard is overgrown and inaccessible. There are no visible remains of a structure at ground level. The site of St Margaret's Well (WX040-015----) is c. 480m to the NW. It may have served as a private or estate chapel for Rathumney castle (WX040-028001-) c. 350m to the NW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
