The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the outer edge of a shelf of the NE-facing slope of a SW-NE spur. This is a circular wooded area (diam. 33m N-S; 33m E-W) defined by slight earthen bank (Wth 3-3.5m; max. int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1-1.5m) with an external flat bottomed fosse or moat (Wth of top 7-9m; Wth of base 3.5-5m; D 1-1.5m) and an outer bank, most massive W-N-E (Wth 6m; ext. H 1m) where it forms a field boundary. The entrance (Wth 4m) and causeway are at SSW. The moat retains water and there is a leat at S. Small earthen banks (Wth 1m; H 0.3m) divide the interior into cells (dims. c. 10m x c. 5m) which are probably connected with tree-planting, but one against the platform bank at N (dims 10m E-W; 4.5m N-S) may be a house site. (Barry 1977, 221, WX 63)
