The National Monuments Service's description
Located on a slight E-W spur between small E-W streams and their valleys c. 60m to the N and c. 170m to the S, and on the E side of the N-S River Slaney with the river c. 200m to the SW. The parish church of Tikillin is within a raised rectangular and scrub-covered graveyard (dims c. 40-50m E-W; c. 30-35m N-S) defined by low scarps, with a retaining wall at N. According to a Visitation by Thomas Ram, the Protestant bishop of Ferns, in 1615 this church was impropriate to Henry Wallop and the name of the priest, if any, is not recorded. Nor is the condition of the church building recorded (Hore 1900-11, vol. 6, 268). The fragmentary grass covered foundations of the church (ext. dims. 15.5m E-W; 6.85m N-S) are defined by masonry walls (Wth 1m; max. H 1m), but the S wall is completely missing.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
