The National Monuments Service's description
Described as the site of Haystown Castle on the 1839 and 1924 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a slight SW-facing slope. There are no historical references to a castle here. This is a square, grass-covered area (dims 39m N S; 39m E W) defined by back filled moats (Wth 6 11m; D 0.1 0.3m). There is a slight sunken E-W feature (Wth of base c. 8m), probably an old stream, across the interior.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
