The National Monuments Service's description
Marked 'Abbey (site of)' with the faint outline of a small building (dims. c. 10m E-W; c. 7m N-S) on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated in the bottom of a small N-S valley with the headwaters of a small stream just to the E. There are no visible remains of any structure at ground level but there is local knowledge of walls encountered in drainage works c. 1950. The castle site (WX034-022----) is c. 25m to the ENE. Archaeological testing (04E1676) c. 50m to the SW at the closest point failed to produce archaeological material (Noonan 2004; xxcavations.ie 2004:1815).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
